Big four firm utilising Azure data factory to maximise data collection

A member of the big four accounting firms is utilising Azure Data Factory, in collaboration with their internal set up, to analyse their data. In recent years there are significant levels of data being produced in all fields and certainly more in the field of accounting. The ever-growing amount of information must be interpreted to gain value from it and Azure Data Factory provides a cloud based service to manage and maximise the data.

The firm dictated to JBI Training that they wanted a 2 day course to train employees that are new to the data analyst team about Azure Data Factory. The big four firm uses Azure to compile data and then publishes the organised data to cloud store, so that the data can be visualised, analysed and therefore produce improved business outcomes. Furthermore, by using Azure data factory the overheads of the business can be cut, improving finances.

The main objectives set out by the firm were tailor made to the course so that real life scenarios immersed the delegates in the training. These goals were:

• To develop an understanding of code free ETL (extracting, transforming and loading data) and how to build visual transformation logs
• To use the data factory to improve operational schedules for pipelines

• To give the delegates a working understanding of the role of databricks

The course was run in person with about 10 attendees, allowing the trainer ample time to answer any questions and easily solve problems that the delegates had. This resulted in positive feedback about the course and a potential follow up once the team has had time to digest and put into practice the information they received in the session.
