Course Outline
This course provides an introduction to the design and implementation of JEE applications, using the services provided by JEE .
Note that the course is not designed to teach the basics of JavaEE from scratch, but to show the options available to architects designing JavaEE systems.
Course Content
This course has been developed for real-world, commercial scenarios by our expert instructors. See below for detailed syllabus. If you have a technical question, please email sales@jbinternational.co.uk
What you will learn
- Explore many of the principal JEE patterns
- Assess the suitability of particular patterns in a given design context
- Describe these patterns, from motivation to implementation
- Use JEE patterns as part of application design
- Describe the JEE Blueprints and their relationship to the common JEE pattern
Architecture & Design Patterns for JavaEE (JEE) Training Course Outline
Context of JEE Applications
Gain/refresh familiarity with JEE technologies and the context in which they are usually deployed
JEE Patterns and Blueprints
Clarify the scope and purpose of JEE Patterns and Blueprints, what they are and where they can be found
Web Presentation Patterns
Identify bad practices in the implementation of user interfaces using Web technology.
Improve maintainability of UI through the application of patterns
Business Component Patterns
Map the analysis model onto “business” components and consider how these could be implemented in JEE.
Improve the maintainability and flexibility of the business components through the application of common patterns
Distribution and Structural Patterns
Examine the impact on JEE design of distribution, transactions and other ‘structural’ concerns.
Explore the patterns that can be introduced to overcome some of the issues associated with these technical aspects of the system
Data and Integration Layer Patterns
Explore different styles of data access in JEE and various patterns for mapping domain data to JEE elements.
Examine common patterns and idioms for accessing non-database business data and services
Applications, JEE Blueprints and Patterns
Look at the Sun JEE Blueprints and see how they use patterns.
Identify implementations of patterns discussed earlier in the course and examine any other major patterns, principles and idioms used in the Blueprint applications
JEE, Web Services and Patterns
Explore how the use of Web Service protocols and principles impact the design of JEE applications.
Examine the main distribution patterns encountered earlier and see if they are still applicable
Review
Recap on main learning points from the course. Identify sources of further information and learning
